Tower Defence Game for iPhone / iTouch

Mote Massacre - Tower Defence
If you have ever played Star Craft or Warcraft 3 then you would most likely have heard of Tower Defence... Well this fantastic style of game play has become available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

This awesome peice of iphone software has been developed by a person who goes by the name of "GX Jones" and appears to be doing this as an individual venture. Putting into consideration that this guy is doing this all on his own you must hand it to him with the functionally that the game brings to the iphone as a tower defence game. Version 1.0 is still the current version for download and has a couple of feature greyed out as they are still in development and after testing it to the maximum I can say that its about 80 - 90 % bug free.

Check out some of these screen shots taken of in game play.

As you can see its not that graphically advanced but for the true Tower Defence gamer this would not be nessesary as the game play alone is good enough!

So far the game has won my Vote and the review I wrote for it was 5 / 5 Stars. One interesting thing I noticed ( Which will confirm that its a great game ) was that there are other Interweb Sites that have written news posts on their Interweb Sites about the game and I am sure after reading the news posts people have download the game and played it... but whats interesting about this is that after being available for 5 days I was the first and possibly still the only person to write a review for it on the App store, perhaps its not popular ( App store never shows the download count ) or perhaps these people who downloaded it are still playing it now as you read this and have no further time to write their own review !

The next version has been submitted to Apples App Store for pre-release review and once available I will be downloading it asap as GX Jones has previewed some of the new features on his Interwebs Site as YouTube Clips.

Well thats possibly all I will say about it for now... Its time to get back to playing Tower Defence, You may not hear from me for a while after the next update is made available as I could be indefinatly stuck in a loop

iTunes Store - Movies Australia

iTunes Movies

iTunes Movies Menu

iTunes Store Australia has released its first wave of movie downloads for the movie rental industry, It has been a long wait for this release and many apple customers who bought iPods, iPhones AppleTVs and so on have been itching to unleash their devices on movie downloads.

Now what does this mean for the Movie Rental Industry? Well not too much really but all the same will make a big dent on physical movie store rentals at places like blockbuster and video easy... With the freedom to download a movie either for owning it or renting it at fairly good prices.

Comparing a normal movie hire in store with a downloaded movie from itunes has some pros and cons.

In Store Movie Rentals.
  > Pros

  • Advise from "Movie Experts who watch movies all the time"
  • Possible larger range to start off with but might not be for long.

  > Cons

  • Cost of fuel to travel to the store for purchase.
  • Cost of new release movies can be more than $5 - $6 per movie rental unless on a tuesday or using a voucher.

iTunes Movie Rentals.
  > Pros

  • With 30 Days to watch your movies and a full 48 Hours once you start watching to when its deleted gives you the freedom to queue up movies for download and let them come down slowly on a caped or slow internet plan and watch them at your convenience.
  • Do not need to leave the comfort of your home to get a movies you want to watch.
  • With all New Releases at $5.99 each... this is a good price

  > Cons

  • You will be using your internet bandwidth to download the movies and if you are on a small internet plan of have not "chosen wisely" as the old man from indiana jones the last crusade was once quoted... this may be a big problem in extra internet costs or slow download speeds due to internet caps.
  • A possible small available database but is most likely set to expand quickly.

As you can see both sides of the fence has its own green patches of grass but its all about where you want your grass to be growing as to what suits you best.

This is not the first time Australia has been exposed to a concept of downloading movies instead of driving to your local store... Places like Bigpond movies had initiated the first step in home comfort movie rentals with Mail Discs and Downloaded movies, But where they failed was in the available selection and quality of service where some times you could be waiting months on end for Mailed Movies to become available for you to receive and not to mention the signed up contract that was required to continuously use the service at a good price... need not to explain more as to where they went wrong, but its safe to say that now they will need to re-think their process.

Go iTunes Movies, enjoy!
